Please include your watch model, firmware, the CastXM version (Settings › Version in the app), what you did and what you saw. A photo of the watch screen helps.
Garmin watches
The text shows empty boxes after I chose Traditional Chinese.
Your watch only has Chinese characters when the watch language is Chinese. Set the watch language to Chinese, or choose English or Watch language in CastXM Settings.
The glance says “Open for an egg”.
Open CastXM once and pick your first egg. The glance shows your pet after that.
My pet is gone after I reinstalled the app or changed watches.
Your pet is saved only on your watch, so deleting the app or changing watches starts a new game. Moving a pet to a new watch is planned for a later version.
I do not get reminders.
Reminders only come when your pet is sick, hungry or dirty, or the egg is getting cold, at most twice a day, and never during sleep hours (11 pm to 7 am) or while your pet is on vacation. Check that reminders are on in the CastXM settings in Garmin Connect.
My pet's bond went down.
If you don't care for your pet for more than a day, its bond slowly fades (5 points a day, also while it sleeps through a long absence, but not on vacation). It never drops below a bond milestone you already reached, and your pet never loses a level. Care for it every day to keep your streak going.
Snacks do not appear.
Snacks come from today's steps: one for every 1,000 steps, up to 10 a day. If your watch does not count steps, CastXM still works without snacks.
The Pet helper shows “Unavailable”.
The notification count is shown only while your phone is connected. Steps and the step goal need activity tracking turned on, and some watches do not report every item. The page shows what your watch reported when you opened it; choose Refresh watch data to read it again.
Apple Watch and iPhone
How do I put CastXM on my Apple Watch?
Install CastXM from the App Store on your iPhone. It usually installs on your paired watch by itself. If it does not, open the Watch app on your iPhone, find CastXM under Available Apps and tap Install. CastXM needs watchOS 10 and iOS 17 or later.
My steps do not turn into snacks.
CastXM reads steps from Apple Health only if you allowed it. On your iPhone, open Settings, go to the privacy section, choose Health › CastXM and turn on Steps. You get one snack for every 1,000 steps, up to 10 a day.
I do not get reminders on my Apple Watch.
Care reminders come at most twice a day and never between 11 pm and 7 am or while your pet is on vacation. Check that notifications for CastXM are on in the Watch app on your iPhone, and choose which reminders you want by tapping the bell at the top of the iPhone app.
Do I need an Apple Watch?
No. You can raise your pet on the iPhone alone: hug the egg, feed, play and clean. CastXM is best with an Apple Watch, where you also get missions, stories, the Glimmer Isles and snacks from your steps. Later you can bring your iPhone pet to a watch with Bring back.
The iPhone app says “No pet yet”.
Tap Start on iPhone to raise a pet right on your iPhone; you do not need a watch. If your pet is on your Apple Watch, open CastXM on the watch with your iPhone nearby and pick an egg if you have not yet; the iPhone updates shortly after. If it asks you to update, install the latest CastXM on both the watch and the iPhone.
I got a new Apple Watch, or reinstalled CastXM on my watch.
Keep your iPhone nearby and open CastXM on the watch. At the top of the first screen, choose Bring back and your pet's name. Your pet, keepsakes and the Glimmer Isles come back; steps start fresh from today.
I changed my iPhone too.
Set up the new iPhone from an iCloud or computer backup, open CastXM on the iPhone once, then bring your pet back on the watch as above. If the new iPhone was set up without a backup, the pet cannot be brought back.
My old watch says my pet is on another watch now.
Your pet was brought back on another watch, so this watch stopped to avoid two copies. To raise it here again, choose Start over on this watch, then Bring back from iPhone.
Deleting CastXM from my iPhone.
The handoff backup lives in the iPhone app, so deleting CastXM from your iPhone deletes it. Your pet on the watch is not affected. If you raise your pet on the iPhone without a watch, deleting the iPhone app deletes your pet.
Does CastXM show ads?
The Apple Watch app never shows ads. The iPhone app may show one small card labeled “Ad” at the end of the collection, up to three times a day. You never need to tap it, and it never affects your pet or any reward. Use Hide or Report under the card, or the AdChoices icon in its corner.
Where are the ad privacy options?
In the iPhone app, tap the bell at the top and look under Ads. The Ad privacy options button appears where the law requires a choice, for example in the European Economic Area and the UK.
